Greece's
creditors received new proposals from the Greek
government for reforms just hours before today's emergency summit of eurozone
leaders.
"The
new Greek proposal - received ... This is a
good
basis for progress at the summit," wrote on Twitter Zelmayr Martin, Chief
of Cabinet of the President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker.
Greece
submitted new proposals last night.
Today,
Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras will meet with European Commission
President, President of the European Central Bank Mario Draghi, the managing
director of the International Monetary Fund Christine Lagarde and President of
the Eurogroup Jeroen Deyselblum.
Afterwards will be held an extraordinary meeting of eurozone finance
ministers, on which they will discuss technical details of the
Greek proposal.
And
tonight begins a summit in
Brussels, at which leaders of the eurozone will discuss the rescue of Greece.
"The
fate of Greece and the euro to a great
extent will
be decided today", commented the European Commissioner for Economic Affairs
Pierre Moscovici. According to him, the outcome of the summit will be to
prevent the bankruptcy of Greece.
Meanwhile,
the French finance minister Michel Sapin welcomed the "good work" of
the Greek government and the new proposals for reform.
